Summer Fun

Summer time comes and goes every year. Yet it seems like its a special that might run out any time and those gray Kentucky winter days will be here again. Its a great time to focus on your smile, whether just making sure to show it a little more with your summer tan or to get it where it needs to be. Summer would be a great time to whiten ones teeth, come in for an overdue cleaning or just get a solid check up and information about ones dental health.
Summer is also a great time to take a vacation as several of our patients have done. I have not though. I'm never sure if "Blogging" should have a conversational casual tone where one might type "HaHa" as one would in a text message. For future reference in case you would like to know I am definitely a haha person and not really an LOL er...And on that note are emojis appropriate for blogging? Again I'm not sure.
As far as music at the offices go, we've been sneaking in some country music here and there. At our Poplar office we recently made the switch to online music from our old school "boombox" that came with the practice when it joined us it at Eastern Parkway. In fact we've also been taking requests and on Wednesday played some surf music at the request of a patient and everyone enjoyed some Beach Boys and Jan and Dean. In my personal office its been a mix of Classical from our local public radio station WUOL and archived Grateful Dead shows. I went to my first and last Grateful Dead concert last year, mostly because they won't ever play again as the Grateful Dead.
In dentistry notes we've done some anterior implant crowns with great results as well as some cosmetically excellent removable partial dentures as well as all the fun 'regular" things like crowns, fillings, bridges and other "cool" stuff haha.

Growing Pains

If you haven't heard we are building a new office on Poplar Level road here in Louisville. I have been very busy with the planning and execution of this new office. I know our current and future patients will really enjoy this more practical and easily accessible location in the retail centre with the Wal-mart Neighborhood market, Q-doba and Panera Bread and Chilli's.

Our Address will be 3017 Poplar level road in the shopping centre facing the Wal-mart.

We hope to open near March 15, 2015. We look forward to showing you are bright beautiful new practice location to better serve Germantown, the Highlands and Audubon Park. We will be posting photos of progress soon.

Of course as anyone who knows me can tell you we've been playing a lot of Fleetwood Mac at the office since they will be playing at the Yum Center soon but also I have to admit it was me who made the Ed Shereen Pandora station at the office so please forgive me.

Technology in Louisville

I don't often get the time I want to simply explore business and technology news and my city. I was able to get some time today to just sip coffee and wait for the laundry to dry and just explored. First there was already not news to me about the new venture of the Hammerheads and Game owners over in the Loop area of the Deer Park neighborhood of Louisville. Those that know me are aware that I am a foodie and am a real nosey person when it comes to new places opening and in general all food related news. These guys really appear to have a vision to bring friends along the way with them and when I've seen them interact with Anthony Lamas about food and food shows they all seem to embody a joy of cooking and good food you can't have without being genuine.

I also saw that our Mayor Greg Fisher was speaking at the Code for America Summit in San Francisco. The good old fashioned curmudgeon in me asked exactly what our tax dollars where doing sending this fine man to the west coast....but then I just quieted down and started reading the article about his discussion of transparency in government and just took it al in. After that I read about and jumped to something very interesting.

This particular web page(or startup I'm not really sure) let's one input their zip or address to get crime stats and news very hyperlocal. It even told me about a new BBQ place I had heard of in the neighborhood that I wasn't quitte sure where it was located, and it gave me the opportunity to jump to the BBQ place's Yelp. This service seems ready to really make life hyperlocal it is called Louie Watch(beta). Look for it and I think you will at the very least find it interesting.

I always try to give a feel for what I am listening to and today the is a double live Album by the Tedeschi Trucks Band. THese two make great music as well as a beautiful family. I remember hearing stories back in the day of the two performing gigs in Louisville or Lexington and when one was performing the other might be hopping in their Volvo wagon and driving to the other city to perform. I don't know how true that is but I like to imagine these two awesome musicians having a wonderful family at home as well as on the road. Sounds like a movie screenplay to me...but what do I know. I have been a fan of Derek since he was practically a prodigy playing with the Allman Brothers and I saw Suzanne Tedeschi way back in the day in Lexington, what a soulful voice she brings to their sound.

Never a dull day

Today we didn't see patients but we managed two emergencies and did a lot of the work required to keep a small dental practice running behind the scenes. In this case that means a little studying of biofilms, desensitizing agents and caries prevention with rinses and dentifrice. And of course several hours by our Accounts Manager, Anita, dealing with helping insurance companies do their job and pay for their clients dental work. If people only knew the hours our and all dental teams put into something simple like their insurer doing their job they would be amazed.
I've also been listening to the "new" St.Vincent album.http://www.myspace.com/stvincent/music/albums/strange-mercy-17970549
It is a real piece of work. I also just found out she was a guitarist for many years with the little known Polyphonic Spree as well as Sufjan Stevens the Chicago based singer-songwriter of whom I am a fan.
I also need to learn how to change this blog title, as its name was really meant to be my last post's title and I really don't know the name of this blog yet. We also need a way to push content from the web like music haha.
